DESIGN BRIEF

Our challenge was to create a digital solution with TWO innovative user experiences that enhance product engagement and boost purchase confidence in online retail.

PROBLEM DISCOVERY

Our goal was to understand users' experience with second-hand buying, including how they evaluated product authenticity, what motivated purchases, and what created friction in the resale journey.

Hard to Quickly Find Rare Sneakers

We conducted 12 Semi-structured Interviews for qualitative insights.

No Proof after Purchase

We conducted an online survey with 34 responses for quantitative insights.

High Effort to Prove Authenticity

We used auto-ethnography to empathise with our user frustrations.

Competitor Analysis

Our goal was to understand users' experience with second-hand buying, including how they evaluated product authenticity, what motivated purchases, and what created friction in the resale journey.

  • Who is the User?

"I love collecting rare items, but buying second-hand always feels like a gamble. I spend too much time digging for proof, just to avoid getting scammed. I like to show-off my collectibles online and can't risk having fake shoes."

    Daniel H

    / Shoe Collector.

How might we simplify the authentication process for collectors so that they can confidently purchase rare, authentic, and high-quality sneakers?…

Upon ideation, we chose our solution based on desirability, feasibility and viability.

Wireframing

I designed the 1-Click Verify feature from scratch, sketching the core user flow in 6 stages—from onboarding to result screen.

Testing and Iteration.

We conducted expert heuristic evaluations and think-aloud usability tests to refine key flows.

Here’s what we learned:

Harry H

Avid Shoe Collector

I still don’t understand how AR is being used here. It just looks like a camera—what’s it doing?

Shavil C

Mentor from Frog

Think about the interaction design. Focus on making the core feature more delightful and satisfying to use.

Prototyping

I built the interactive prototype in Figma to validate flows and screen logic with our team and mentors.

TRY PROTOTYPE

Finally, my team and I pitched this in 7 mins to judges!

Judges included a professor at USYD, product designers at Frog and leaders at Prodigi.

Reflecting on this experience…

  • UX isn’t just about usability- it’s also about consistent emotional reassurance.

  • Post-purchase is an overlooked but powerful touchpoint for brand-building.

  • Working in a fast-paced, real-world design sprint helped sharpen my product thinking under pressure.
